    Unfortunately I think Robinhood is going to end up trying to sabotage Hyperliquid. Most likely through political levers and lobbying.\n\nThis is not a playground, it is a fight for territory, and there is a ton of money at stake.

    Phantom and Hyperliquid asked the CFTC to draw a line that's been missing for a while. Register the entities holding funds and executing trades. not the developers writing the open-source code underneath them. Current rules were built for custodial intermediaries. onchain protocols don't fit that model. The ask cuts both ways though. It’s not "leave crypto alone." it's letting registered exchanges and clearinghouses use onchain infrastructure too, trade execution, clearing, settlement, margining, as long as they stay compliant. The timing matters. ICE and CME pushed regulators earlier this year to scrutinize Hyperliquid's commodity-linked perps. Then ICE's CEO flipped, calling for a level playing field so regulated exchanges can compete onchain directly. CME kept expanding its own crypto derivatives lineup while suing the CFTC over its approval of crypto perpetuals. If ambiguity keeps pushing innovation offshore, does that end up costing incumbents more than the platforms they're trying to slow down?
