⚖️ XRP Ledger: consensus is still pending $XRP Ledger is moving forward with its v3.2.0 update, but the activation of its main changes faces a different hurdle: governance. The new software version already has strong technical backing among the validators in the Unique Node List (UNL). Of the 35 primary validators, 31 are already running the update, reaching roughly 89% adoption within this group. However, the amendment fixCleanup3_2_0, linked to the update, has not yet reached the consensus required for activation. With 19 favorable votes out of 35 validators, it remains far below the 80% threshold required by XRPL to implement protocol changes. The difference highlights a key feature of the XRP Ledger governance model: installing new software does not automatically approve its changes. The technical upgrade and the decision to activate an amendment operate as separate processes. fixCleanup3_2_0 does not propose any economic changes to XRP. It is primarily a maintenance upgrade that fixes issues related to recent features such as Single Asset Vaults, Lending Protocol, Permissioned DEX, and Multi-Purpose Tokens, as well as cleaning up legacy code components. The case also reveals another gap within the network. While the main validators are progressing with v3.2.0, only about 43% of active nodes have updated their software, leaving a significant portion of the infrastructure still on older versions. The situation does not represent a system failure, but rather illustrates how decentralized networks operate: technical evolution depends both on the code and on coordination among those with decision‑making power. In XRPL, the update has already reached the servers. The next step depends on consensus advancing at the same pace as software adoption.
